Internet Explorer 10 has just recently been released for Windows 7. Even if you prefer another browser like Firefox or Google Chrome you might want to know what have changes in the new version of Internet Explorer 10.
In my opinion Microsoft has been falling a lot behind in the browser war. One of the reasons is that there is years between the browser upgrades from Microsoft. That been said Microsoft Internet Explorer is still the most used browser worldwide and that is why you should not ignore this new version even that you don’t want to use it yourself. If you have your own blog or website you need to make sure that your site is looking good in IE10. If you don’t want to upgrade your own IE yet you can test your blog or website using this free browser tester.
New Features in Internet Explorer 10
At first sight Internet Explorer 10 looks a lot like Internet Explorer 9. No doubt that must of the changes is under the hood, but as you start using it you will find some nice improvements. Some of those are:
- Spelling correction
- Automatic updates
- Improved tab management
- Touch support
The new User Agent of Internet Explore
If it is relevant for you the new User Agent string of IE 10 is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/6.0)
Internet Explorer 10 Requirements
As you properly know, IE10 is built into Windows 8, but it has also been released for Windows 7 recently. Users of Windows Vista will still be limited to IE9 and users of Windows XP will be limited to IE8. If you want to test the improved performance of IE10, Microsoft has their own Test Drive site with a lot of fun browser tests.
What do you think about Internet Explorer?
Now it is your turn. What do you think about IE10? Do you think it has a change to take up the fight with browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox or has Microsoft already lost the browser war? Please drop me a comment below and please tell me what browser is your favorite browser.
For me, Chrome is a clear winner. Neat interface, super slick navigation thanks to some diligent programming minds behind this browser. I just hope IE 10 is able to re-instill the lost sheen of MS in terms of internet surfing.
Hi Rashmi
I do think that Chrome is the best browser too. It is fast and does almost never crash. However I do use Internet Explorer too from time to time.
In my city, actually we have to use IE for official purposes, like filling online applications etc.
So yeah, I too have a few encounter with it and that’s why will try this new version.
I also have to use IE in some cases e.g. Microsoft Dynamic CRM. I do still prefer Google Chrome after all.
HI Rashmi,
I am completely agree with you. IE 10 might have upgraded but I my opinion chrome is better then anything elase. super fast navigation, user friendly, easy to modify as per needed. all extensions work.
Clear winner is chrome.
I think this time Internet Explore has hit it right on the sweet spot! I have become a convert. By bye Chrome! Hail Hardware Acceleration 😀
Chrome is the best browser
I’m a big Chrome fan too. The customization and extensions give me exactly what I want to use my browser efficiently. I don’t know if IE is too late to the game, but they haven’t offered enough to make me give up Chrome.
Hi Carolyn
I think Chrome is the best too. Some websites and services simply don’t work with Internet Explorer. IE9 and 10 is a bit better, but IE8 was awful if you ask me.
I am agree with thomas chrome work much better . i like firefox also
Wow, I wasn’t even aware that Internet Explorer had a new update. They really should start promoting their browser more if they are trying to show people that they are superior.
Hi Dylan
I think that Microsoft is busy promoting Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Office 2013. IE10 might not be that big a deal for them at the moment. I would expect IE10 to be on Windows Update for Windows 7 very soon.
any internet user know that chorme is better than explorer than i can understand why the hell internet explorer has major share of browser usage..
frankly only use of explorer is to download chorme or morzilla..:D
I guess that the main reason is that Internet Explorer is already installed when you install Windows. In many companies you are not allowed to install other browsers. I prefer Chrome too.
Wait wait wait…first Google chrome is also best but this one have one problem,if you want then you can’t see page source by Chrome, also IE,But you can check easily by Firefox, and i think Firefox is the best browser…
Hi Thomas,
I like to working with chrome, It is my default browser compare to IE it is fast and more reliable for me.
Thanks for share with me this informative article!!
However usually I prefer firebox but sometime used Internet explorer too. As you have mention Internet Explorer 10 has been released. I would like to check it out.
Thanks.
Hey its great that IE 10 has finally been released. IE is really important and this time it has so many features too. Thanks for the post.
I am using Mozilla firefox. The main problem of IE and chrome is there are less adones on it as compare to firefox and chrome is better that both firefox and IE b/c its light in use.
Nice job, it’s a great post. The info is good to know! that IE 10 has been launched i will try it.
This is an interesting update from internet explorer. This is very much different from the archaic version of internet explorer.
Nothing much to see in IE10. It’s almost as same as IE9, and runs quite slow as compared to Chrome and Firefox.
Well im actually satisfied on the improvement because earlier versions of iexplorer was really slow and felt cluttered
I like Google Chrome, i do not want to use IE but for government websites I have to use IE.
website design
Internet Explorer is mostly used in US. In India, we do prefer Chrome. I have not used the IE10 though but will definitely give a try.
Chrome is the winner, no doubt. I think it’s going to be very hard for Microsoft to get back in the game unfortunately. By the way, love the link you provided for the browser tester.
Hi Frank
Thank you it is a great online service to test different browsers without actually installing them yourself.
I never used Internet Explorer as such, so wasn’t even aware about the news related to its updates. I will give the new Internet explorer a try, might be I shift my preference from chrome to explorer. Thanks for the share.
I often use chrome thus I think it is the best browser.
I have become so much accustomed to use Google Chrome as my primary browsers that no other browser can now replace it. The features look quite practical in IE10 but I will stick with Chrome for some more time. Thanks for the share.
Internet explorer 10 includes more bugs. It’s a nightmare for web developers as most sites have disfunctions when browsing.
Hi Bill
Not all websites are working with IE10. I have seen that too. It would be nice if all browsers were to respect all the common standards in the web world. It would for sure make web developing a lot easier.
There are lots of very good features in internet explorer 10, but its still lacks the rich library of addons or extensions. I would still prefer chrome and firefox
In my town, actually we have to use IE for formal reasons, like stuffing on the internet programs etc.So really, I too have a few experience with it and that is why will try this new edition.
The browser landscape is changing all the time. Chrome has made some serius inroads, but we’ll see what happens here!
Chrome is without a doubt the best browser in my opinion, but I still do have to us IE for some things. I do not believe, however, that IE will ever be able to surpass Chrome or even Firefox. They lost the browser war a long time ago.
Internet Explorer 10 is much greater than its previous versions. Specially I love its multi tab managing in a easy way. Secondly it supports all scripts, So no worry to functioning properly in browse any kind website loaded with scripts.
From a web developer point of view, the first thing is that IE 10 is FASTER compared to older versions (yes, that always was the big problem with IE browsers) and has a better support for HTML5/CSS3 features. Well, it is still behind the other like Chrome and Firefox but they put some effort to make it better.
I agree. IE 10 is a big improvement, but still a long way to go catch up on Chrome and Firefox.
Not sure about others but I’m still with my firefox as first choice browser. Although there are a lot of improvements with every new version of IE introduced over the years, it will need significant changes in order to convince me to make a permanent switch. Right now both IE and Chrome will remain as second choices.
I’m with some of the other poster on this. I am firmly rooted in the firefox camp. After using Firefox for a few years now, IE just seems very slow and clunky to me. Also a few years ago the security in IE wasn’t that great. Although I will admit, it has been a couple years since I have used IE, things may have gotten better.
Hi Scott
Things has been improved, but there is still a lot of work to do for Microsoft on their browser.
Internet Explore is slow when compared to other browser’s like chrome and firefox and also IE won’t support Most of HTML5 specification’s
Thanks for sharing Valuable tips , Still I am Using IE 9 ,
Now i am aware about IE 10 Feature every one want to use IE 10
Actually Internet Explorer 11 has just recently been released for Windows 7.
Actually i am using windows 8.1 and it has a default Internet Explorer 11.However nice post….
Its a lot better than internet explorer 8 but still use firefox
I’m glad they are finding more ways to update Internet Explorer 10. I think it’s interesting that there are still websites or programs out there today that will only work for Internet Explorer and not Chrome or Firefox.
I always use Google Chrome as my main browser across all my devices. I guess the features do look cool, but I feel that Chrome is the most reliable, as for me it’s always super fast and never crashes! Thanks for the share.
I use Google Chrome a lot to. Actually Microsoft is coming with a new browser for Windows 10, code name Project Spartan. Hopefully that will be a better browser 🙂
Chrome and Firefox, the rest is just not so good in my eye and experience.
I can only agree with that. Microsoft is working on a new browser for Windows 10, called Microsoft Edge. Maybe it will be able to take up the fight with Chrome and Firefox.
